The Story of Celebrity Grill

I’m JM, producer/owner/host of Celebrity Grill. The idea for Celebrity Grill is one that most backyard grillers can relate to. Back in October 2008, I gave in & bought my first iPhone. After fiddling with it for a couple of months, I clicked the iTunes App and was in iTunes for the very first time. About a month later of maundering in iTunes, I was looking for any & all free stuff I could get. “Free or cheaper” was my motto at the time.

I clicked on Podcasts for the very first time in December of 2009. What!? Free info & videos?! If it’s free – it’s for me. I figured out, after quite a learning curve, how to subscribe & download Podcasts to my iPhone (my first ever iPod/MP3 player). I love learning about food so I subscribed to ALL audio & video Podcasts about food including Martha Stewart’s video Podcast. (Yes … I know. In my defense, she has a guy on one of her shows who demos a traditional Argentinean Asada grill. Very cool.)

I quickly came to realize that there were several good Podcasts as well as several Podcasts that were just thrown together. I settled on grilling and BBQ shows - a longtime passion of mine. Although there are several good ones out there (including Greg Rempe’s BBQ Central Radio Show Podcast), I didn’t find one that was exactly what I was looking for: Wall to wall info on how to master the backyard grill. So I created one - peppering in my interest in food science, history, culture, molecular gastronomy, equipment reviews, product reviews, guest interviews, and whatever else I feel like learning about. Thus, Celebrity Grill was born.

After 8 months of planning to make sure the content delivered to the listeners was high quality & high quantity, the 1st audio podcast show of Celebrity Grill dropped on iTunes August 16th, 2009 as an Audio Podcast. The rest is history. Since then, I’ve started a YouTube Channel & iTunes Video Podcast, Facebook Fan Page, Twitter Page, Grilling Gear Giveaways, Product Reviews ... and that’s just the beginning ...
